Home Rewire
The start- 1st fix
If your property has not been rewired or had any electrical upgrades in the last 15 year, there is a possibility that it may need some upgrading of electrical services to bring it in line with the current standards. This may be a new consumer unit ( fuse board ) or the property may need some new rewiring of electrical circuits.
2nd Fix
All electrical work on new extensions and conversions must meet the part P: Electrical Safety Guidelines as they are classed as “new work”. The existing wiring and consumer units must be brought up to standard to meet the requirements and deal with any new electrical loads. The Earth bonding on the gas and water utilities must be in place along with a satisfactory main earth. A electrical inspection of the property is recommended before purchasing a new property or before any work takes place to prevent any unexpected surprises, for instance the property may need to a full rewire, and if left could end up costing more in the long run.
The finish
You my need a rewire for the following reasons
- New extension works
- New kitchen
- An outdated fuse board – this may be hiding faults.
- Surface mounted wiring
- Old style sockets
- Non PVC insulated wiring – ( rubber insulted )
